Steven Ahnen is a member of the Advisory Committee on Self-Regulation.

Steve Ahnen is senior vice president for the American Hospital Association, which serves hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.  He has been deeply involved in AHA’s work on nonprofit governance oversight and reform, including leading efforts to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and to examine how aspects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act might apply to nonprofit organizations like the AHA and its members. Mr. Ahnen joined the AHA in 1992 as a lobbyist, focusing on federal budget and appropriations issues.  He then served as vice president and special assistant to the president from 1995 to 2000. Before joining the AHA, Mr. Ahnen worked on Capitol Hill for two members from Kansas, Representative Bob Whittaker and Representative Jan Meyers. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, and an executive MBA in health administration from the University of Colorado in Denver.
