Richard Klarberg is a member of the Advisory Committee on Self-Regulation.

Richard Klarberg became the president and CEO of the Council on Accreditation in October 2001. COA is a nonprofit organization that accredits or is in the process of accrediting more then 1500 human and social service providers in the United States and Canada. Prior to joining COA, Mr. Klarberg served as the senior vice president for North Shore-LIJ, a nonprofit group of 18 hospitals. During this time, he also served on COA’s Board of Trustees for five years and as COA’s Treasurer for two years. He was previously the executive vice president of the American Health Foundation, a cancer research organization, and a lawyer with the firm of Javits & Javits. After graduating from Queens College with a degree in journalism, he was a VISTA volunteer and later taught developmentally disabled children in a Brooklyn public school. A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Richard is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is a trustee of the Hospice Care Network.
