James Tinker is president and chief executive officer of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which is a 917-bed acute care, not-for-profit Catholic hospital.  Prior to joining Mercy, he served as vice president for administration at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan and assistant vice chancellor at the Center for Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mr. Tinker is a former board member of the American Hospital Association where he chaired its audit committee. He is a past member and chair of the American Hospital Association's Section for Metropolitan Hospitals Governing Council and a former chair of the Iowa Hospital Association. Mr. Tinker holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Michigan.
